Betty’s Midwest Kitchen @ Aman Suria, PJ

First thing when we entered was to order drinks. It was a hot and sunny weather out there and what better to quench my thirst with my favourite soft drink, root beer! I found this particular brand of root beer not too gassy which is good since we were all sipping it up really quick.

Thomas Kemper – Rootbeer (RM 5.50)

To start us off, we had the salad which consisted of leafy vegetables, cucumbers, tomatoes and apples. It was then drizzled with a citrus dessing which is a much healthier and more refreshing taste to the typical thousand island dressing.

After satisfying our quota of greens for the day, its time for meat! lol. Afterall thats what we’re here for! First up is the burgers.  This pork burger’s patty is made from shredded or ‘pulled’ pork (hence its name) which has been slow roasted and braised in their special sauce. So expect this to be slightly messy when you chomp into this burger as the patty is rather loose and not so compact as compared to other burger patties.

Here we have Jamie cutting the burger into very accurate portions for everyone to try…heh heh.

The other burger on the menu is something interesting. Within the patty at the core is cheese. So imagine ozzing cheese when you bite into the burger. **Caution** Melted cheese is HOT so advisable to let it cool a while before chomping down on it eventhough how hungry you may be :)

Juicy Lucy Burger (RM 13.50)

One of my personal favourites. Some may get offended by the name of the dish but hey, if it taste good then it doesn’t matter..right? Placed in a baking dish, fries are topped generously with simply flavourfull gravy. To top it off, melted cheese. My heart also literally melts :p

“Dog Food” – Gravy Fries (RM 7.50)

Ah Bok just couldn’t get enough of it!

On to the mains, we tried the ribs. Marinated in special sauce & rub then grilled. Interesting to note why it is called soft ribs because there wasn’t any bones.

Now for a classic meal and another favourite of mine, Midwest style meatloaf that uses pork for very moist and flavourful results. This hearty and tasty dish is served with mash, peas and onion relish. I especially liked the taste of each bite as you can feel the sweetness of the finely diced carrots and chives. The smell was also fragrant.

Classical Meatloaf (RM 15.00)

Another classic western pork dish, pork chops.  Pan fried and comes with the same tasty gravy that was on the dog food dish.

Lastly, the special of the week. It is a combination of virginia ham steak, brats & bacon – 2-tone coselaw & mash w/ sp sauce

Special for the day – Hog Wild (RM 33.00)

All of us with all the food. Look at Uli and Bok still digging into the dog food dish
